Rice Water For Radiant Skin

If you are someone who spends a considerable amount of time on social media, you might have come across the popular “rice water trend”. While it’s a new trend in the modern world, rice water has been a staple skincare ingredient in Asian communities. Dating back thousands of years, rice water is considered a natural facial treatment that’s meant to soothe, tone, and improve the overall skin texture. Available in several products these days, rice water is an attractive choice for enhancing skin health and more.

What Is Rice Water?

As the name suggests, it’s the enhanced liquid strained from rice soaked in water. This ancient Asian ingredient is packed with a range of nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. The high-starch and antioxidant properties make rice water an excellent ingredient for brightening dark spots and uneven skin tone, calming skin inflammation, and toning and firming. Also, rice water is quite hydrating, which helps in moisturizing skin and reducing the appearance of wrinkles or fine lines, upon regular use.

While it is easy to make your DIY rice water, you can also buy a rice water product like a face cleanser, toner, or moisturizer.

The Face Shop Rice Water Cleanser

The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Foaming Cleanser is quite true to its name – it instantly brightens up your skin. You will see a noticeable difference in your skin appearance in just one use!

I have been using this Face Shop cleanser, on and off, for the last three years. As the name suggests, it’s a proper foaming cleanser with a buttery soft texture. Enriched with the goodness of rice water extracts, soapwort, and moringa oil, this rice water face wash lathers quite well. It gently removes all the impurities, dirt, sweat, makeup, and sunscreen from the face, leaving behind a cleansed skin.

Is The Face Shop Rice Water Face Wash Drying?

This foaming rice water cleanser has been trending on social media for some time now. While many loved the squeaky clean feeling after using this face wash, some complained of it leaving their skin dry and stretched.

I have sensitive, acne-prone, combination skin, and personally, I did not find the face wash to be drying. In fact, it did a great job of cleansing my skin thoroughly after a long day. However, those with dry skin may find the Face Shop cleanser slightly stripping.

The Final Takeaway

It’s easy to see why rice water has been a staple in Asian cultures for centuries. A rich source of many vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, rice water, when used regularly, can help calm irritated skin, brighten dark spots, enhance texture, hydrate skin, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

The Face Shop cleanser is one of my favorite oil skin face washes, especially during the summer season, as it effectively removes impurities, makeup, and sunscreen from the face. Its creamy, gentle formula makes it suitable to be used by all skin types. However, if you have certain skin concerns, it’s best to consult with a dermatologist before using this cleanser.
